Prints monochrome only

Xnview MP .94 (and earlier versions) prints color pictures in monochrome.
I am using Linux Mint 19.2 although I had the same problem in earlier versions.
I have tried printing on an HP 451 Color Laser Printer, a Canon ip8720, HP 8216, and an old HP 7960. Xnview MP prints monochrome on all of them.

Am I doing something stupidly wrong? No other application has this problem.

in age setup, you have not a setting to print in B&W?

Definitely NOT setting it to print in monochrome.
Actually, I don't see any place to set the print to monochrome.

Using Linux Mint 19.1 with my ancient LaserJet 4L I get to this option eventually:

Absolutely no idea if this could have any relevance to your setup!

Edit:

Looking very quickly at printing from other programs, I am seeing different menus in each, so possibly the above menu is specific to XnView...
