Default dir of "Open with..." dialog

Post by helmut »

Currently, when adding a program using "Tools > Open with...>Add program..." the dialog allows for choosing an .exe file. This is good, but I think the default folder should be "C:\Program Files" (Standard program directory)). Currently it opens up in the current directory, I doubt that this makes much sense.

Even if used not so often, this would save users some clicks...

Yes, but...

• Hi !

- Right in the principle, but I guess that it's worth an option to choose which item of the tree must be open.
- For instance, I never install programmes in the original "Program Files" folder, I set them always directly in the root of the drive, like :
“X”:\Some_Programme.
- Hence, for me the root should be the most convenient…

I think most people use the Standard program dir for installations, this should be supported best.
Since specifying programs for "Open with..." is done rarely, I don't see a need for introducing a setting for the initial program dir.
