Tab closing issues

There may be a setting for this but I can't find it
I often work in folders with several hundred graphics that I have to move or delete. When I exit the tab I get the following behavior
Double Click = Exits and leaves the focus on the last viewed graphic (that's what I need) but leave the tab standing
Escape = Gets rid of the tab but leaves the focus on the FIRST viewed graphic which is not good for the way I work
Enter = Does the same as double clicking

I am looking for a way to close the tab and have the focus on the last viewed graphic

Any suggestions?
