XSane support for Linux version

I've used XnViewMP extensively on different Windows computers and got used to its TWAIN support.
Now I've started migration to Linux and had to realise that XnViewMP doesn't support scanners under Linux.
Are there any plans for adding XSane support?

I know I could simply start GIMP or SimpleScan and use their XSane integration, but for most of my scans I'd prefer to stay within XnViewMP and directly use its labeling and categorization capabilities.
