I tried to resize and rename a bunch of images using batch conversion. But I found the image naming order sequence was opposite than the original image sequence. For example, I convert 4 images.
Image 1 became image 4 after conversion
Image 2 became image 3 after conversion
Image 3 became image 2 after conversion
Image 4 became image 1 after conversion
The original images are showed in the correct order in xnviewMP browser.
I assume xnviewMP will number #1 file as #1 file in the renaming process. But apparently it is not. How xnviewMP decide which file should be renamed as #1 file?
Please note that the original images were saved from a pdf file. so the images were saved at about the exact same time. The time stamp on each file may be exactly same.
Thanks
Wrong image order after conversion [Solved]

Re: Wrong image order after conversion
Please note that I save converted files in a different folder.
I have a solution to solve this problem but I think xnviewMP should have a way better solution. Maybe I just didn't set my xnviewMP right.
My solution:
1. Batch rename all images. By batch renaming all images, I can see image name before and after conversion. So I can be sure the images are renamed in the way I want.
2. Then batch converting in my case resizing the images without changing names.

Re: Wrong image order after conversion
Another question, related to my previous question.
Can I use -1 as the step when I rename images.
I want to start from 48 and count down to 1. So I need -1 step or let me what is the other way to do that.
Thanks!

Re: Wrong image order after conversion
Thanks Pierre!
Then how do I control the order of files in "input"? Did I miss something really obvious?
The files were listed in the order of sequence # before they were converted to the new files. The the new files were numbered in exact reverse order.
This forum is the only official place where I can find answer of questions about Xnview. Is there a detailed help document for Xnview? Is there a wiki website for xnview?
Actually I use xnview on my business laptop. And my company paid for xnview. I am looking for xnview support to help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks for anyone who help me or let know where I can find relevant information.

Re: Wrong image order after conversion
I think I found the problem. Like what Pierre pointed out, the file order on the input tab is wrong. Somehow the file order on input tab was set to arrange files in descending order even my files in folder were arranged in ascending order. What I did is just click the name column, then the files on input tab were re-arranged in ascending order.
Thank you! Pierre.
I still have a question, is there a knowledge base or wiki website or official help document for Xnview?
