"xnconvert > actions > change color depth > colors > 64" does not work.

i mean, in xnconvert, if you try to make it 64 colors, it ends up converting it to 256 colors, if it's not obvious.

i put "xnconvert" in the title, and i'm even pretty sure i originally put this in the xnconvert board, not the xnview board, if it's not obvious.

maybe a mod edited it so the topic didn't include "xnconvert", then another mod moved it to xnview board, i don't know.

anyway.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.96.5. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Hello

Did some tests :

- view mode > Image > change color depth.
- Change color number with binary, grayscale or color (default dithering)
- "Image > count colors used" : expected number of colors (even with 64). OK

- Haven't tested Xnconvert itself but "Tools > batch convert > Change color depth" is also OK

Beware the pitfall: if image is saved it must be saved as PNG for counting colors. If saved as jpeg : count of colors used will be (often much) bigger than value applied and expected !! That's not surprising (destructive compression).

Not easily forseeable when working that the number of colours may/will increase...
