videos do not play in slideshow mode

hello,
I tried slideshow mode in a folder containing both images and videos. While images display properly, videos show a blank screen and do not play. I do not use the internal renderer because it is slow, so I do not know if they work with it or not, but with external LAV codecs, videos do not play in slideshow mode.
