Tabs vs Floating Windows

Post by Jeepwhisperer »

I just changed from an old copy of xnview to MP, and now I have tabs instead of windows when I open files... don't want tabs... I haven't yet found a way to reclaim this 'classic' function. Can I?

...searching the forum I find an indication that there may have been the option to change this feature "single view for multiple files" on the Interface menu in 2017, but it's not there now. Has it moved or been eliminated?

I'll take the silence as meaning "no." This is something that I would very much like to have in the final version of MP, but for now I've installed a fresh updated copy of Classic... do I need to uninstall MP or can the two coexist? Will the Windows Uninstall function do the trick? Topic for another thread maybe...

BTW, the reason I was updating was to be able to open WEBP files, something that still doesn't seem to work...

Your post surprised me because I thought that XnView Classic normally had tabs: having reluctantly booted into Windows, I can now confirm that...

I don't know any history of that...

I see there is an option in the in the MP settings to set the maximum number of tabs = 1, you can see if that gives the result you need:

Tools > Settings > Interface -- Tabs -- Maximum of view tabs

XnView MP and XnView Classic are completely separate and can coexist, but if you use XnView MP 64-bit to open PDF and certain other file types you will need to install Ghostscript 64-bit as well as 32-bit.
