i have an *.1 extension (its a jpg)
how can i see the thumbnails in xnview?

You could rename your *.1 files to *.jpg and then view them with XnView, but I guess this is not what you want. By default, XnView interprets the file extension (.jpg, .gif, ...) to determine the file type. "*.1" extension does not mean anything to XnView so your file is not shown.

This default behaviour can be changed: By unchecking the checkbox "Recognize only by extension" in Options dialog, category "Browser > File list" XnView will try to find out about the file format by checking the contents of the file. This will make XnView a bit slower, but you should see thumbnails for your *.1 files, then.
