I am new to XnView and still trying to figure out how things work.
I exported my previous Aperture library with Aperture Exporter and it creates sidecars like this: img_0001.XMP
Now XnView shows those files in the browser next to the images and doesnt show ratings etc. If i make a rating, it creates a seperate XMP file like this: img_0001.xmp
Renaming the XMP extension to lowercase also didn't help.
This is how my settings look like (German, sorry)
XnView ignores existing XMP files and creates duplicate

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

With 0.99.6? you have setting to export into .xmp sidecar but you would like to use embedded metadata?

Exactly. The XMP files were created with _Aperture Exporter_xnview wrote: Mon Dec 13, 2021 12:51 pm so you have such sidecar img_0001.XMP, and XnView create img_0001.xmp?

Re: XnView ignores existing XMP files and creates duplicate
so perhaps it's better to have 2 other options , or you use .xmp too?
Code: Select all
name.XMP & name.ext.XMPPierre.
