Back in the day, Winsoft made an excellent program that could compress file size without hardly any loss of quality. Winsoft is no longer in business, yet PhotoRar can work on Windows 10, even Windows 11.
If Xnview could incorporate something as good as this, it would make your program complete. It is the best software for compressing file size I have ever used.
The great feature, just load a photo into the user interface, and get dramatic results without doing anything. Just save the image. Of course, PR has all sorts of panels and sliders, but nothing beats just loading the image and saving.
Here are 3 examples of the same picture taken by me.
The PR 159k looks pretty good.
The PR 72 had very little loss of quality
Going down to see how far PR could be pushed, I stopped at PR 9k

Re: Suggestion - Phororar for Xnview?
How would the suggested function compare to the existing browser File > Export... function, accepting that the 'before' and 'after' display sizes would need to be larger to be useful?
[An option to toggle between 'before' and 'after' views in a single display might be useful?]
