Metadata - Edit GPS data: .original file being created

Hi,

Per the above title, I've just found out about the Edit GPS data function, but when I use it a ".original" file and folder are created.

I can't see any options to turn this .original creation off, but it is something I would certainly like to be able to do (in the same way as all other metadata writes to the original file).

If there is no way currently to turn this off, is it possible to put a checkbox in for users to choose?

Having now bothered to search the forum, I see a similar question was asked last year.

Deselecting 'Make backup...' options under 'File operations' has stopped the .original files (presumably as writing to EXIF is considered as a lossless operation.
