Fullscreen auto resizing broken?

Post by Tapio »

I have folders with pictures of different sizes. Say: 5000x3000 mixed with 3000x2000. In the options, also in the context menu of fullscreen, I set auto resize to fit all images into the screen (it's a 2k screen).

What does XNView do?
a) e.g., it fits the 5000x3000 into the screen. Let's say it's 58% of the size. If it's followed by a 3000x2000, this image is also is shown in 58%, so no more full screen, but big black borders.
b) If I look again into the context menu, auto sizing is set to "no change".

EDIT: I solved it! The setting (in yellow) has to be made in both places!
EDIT2: It seems to me, that the setting in "Fullscreen" (here "Vollbild") is not in effect.

I've tried quite a bit to reproduce your problem but without success.

Did you manage to get your settings for Image view (Bildansicht) and Fullscreen (Vollbild) right? In your case both settings should be set to "Fit image to window" (German: "Auf Fenstergröße anpassen, alle Bilder").

Your images have 5000x3000 (Ratio 1.6666) pixels and 3000x2000 (Ratio 1.5) pixels. I'm not sure what dimensions and ratio your monitor has but either the first or the second image will have black borders because the image has a different ratio than your screen and will not fit unless the image was distorted. And XnView doesn't distort images for viewing.

Late reply, after all I have it working. Lots of trouble was caused by "Wechsel [...] setzt Zoom zurück" (this should never be default) - I didn't really recognize what it dows, too much text. "Reset 'auto image size' setting" in the EN translation was instantly clear for me. For months of XNViewMP usage I was confused why this stupid software resets zoom when going to next pic in Fullscreen. Was totally a problem when reviewing pics (where you want to have a consistent setting).
