I see that I can directly add a folder using "Import folder..." button in the Preferences window. Also, a folder is added when I navigate to it and wait until it is scanned. I am wondering:
1. Is there a way to set up background monitoring/scanning of certain paths?
2. What is "Base path of your pictures"? How is it used?
3. How does "Include" mode work on the "Excluded/Included" tab? I added a folder with "Include" in the drop-down, but it did not affect anything.
Is it documented somewhere? I checked this page, but it does not answer these questions. Thanks!

It's used when you use shared folder between computers (the base path used on shared)2. What is "Base path of your pictures"? How is it used?
By default, all is included in catalog.3. How does "Include" mode work on the "Excluded/Included" tab? I added a folder with "Include" in the drop-down, but it did not affect anything.

So "Import folder..." is the right way if I want to scan all the library at once?
As is is a very long process, can a progress bar be implemented?
