Tree list not updating with \\server\ UNC paths

Either this is a longtime bug (4 years or so) or I'm overlooking something in the preference.

In Browser mode I cannot get the file tree to update when I pasted a UNC path into the path textField. Like, \\server01\photos\ . The tre does not expand to that folder. It does if I do C:\ or anything local.

Using the file tree I can browse to the UNC without a problem and the path will reflect back to the path textField. Great.. Now.. Copying what it reflects in the textField and going back to C:\ (for resetting the tree really) then pasting the UNC path from before doesn't re-expand the file tree to the UNC path.

I thought this might be a security issue but I can't see how seeing as I can manual browse to those paths.
