Search by categories in multiple folders

Post by Michel 83 »

Hello everyone,

XnView MP Windows, Version 1.0 64bit

Several image folders referenced in the XnView MP catalog.
All files in these folders use the same category list.

How to display the thumbnails of all the images of all the folders corresponding to a category?

Thanks for the help

Michel

At the top of "Categories filter" pane, use "Match" menu and select "Global" , or "Current Folder(recursive)"
.

You can select two or more categories with Ctrl key , so "Any" or "All" will work like "OR" or "AND"
You can exclude a category with Alt key

Génial !

Merci Michel

J'étais bien en "Tous" mais pas en "Global".
Merci pour les précisions : j'utilise couramment les touches Ctrl et Alt.

Bonne continuation
Michel

Great !

Thank you Michel

I had "All" but not "Global".
Thanks for clarifications : I often use the "Ctrl" and "Alt" keys.

Regards
Michel

From what I understand "Any" accords equals "OR" operation and "All" equals "AND" (you listed the operators the other way round).

I wonder whether "All" and "Any" should be renamed:
Any --> "Match any selected entry (OR)"
all --> "Match all selected entries (AND)"
Note: These labels are a bit long but by default the menu is closed and these labels are not visible and thus don't disturb.

I agree

Default should stay on : "Match any selected entry (OR)"
Because :
- is easier to understand too much answers than 0 answers.
- When "Automatically apply parent keywors" is enabled, ctrl click selects all children categories of the selected one, even if they are hidden.

French
Menu Correspond --> "Correspondance"
N'importe lequel --> "Au moins une des catégories sélectionnées (OU)"
Tous --> "Toutes les catégories sélectionnées (ET)"

Thank you for your feedback, Michael. Let's see whether Pierre also agrees and changes the appropriate labels.
