Where are my pictures???

Post by Wraygunn »

Can someone help me? I was resizing some pictures and inadvertently resized them very small, When I tried to resize them back I got pretty blocks of color but no discernible images. Of course I had the parameters set to replace the files, Are my pictures permanently lost or is the information still there and I just am manipulating them incorrectly? I appreciate any help anyone can provide...once you've stopped laughing that is!

In the limbo--

Post by Clo »

:) Hello, welcome aboard!
Where are my pictures???
- In the case, I fear they be in the Limbo of the PC… :(

- With "Resize" (and other functions), you can use the "Undo" button, as long as you have not saved the changed file !

- Moreover, when you have resized an image, you see the result on the screen, and I don't understand very well why you continued while that result was wrong…

- XnView doesn't keep an auto-backup for each processed image when "Save" has been used.
- Hence, I'ld recommend you to make a backup in an appropriate dedicated folder to attempt such operations. If you mistook, you'll have still originals in this folder…
- You can make the opposite too : make copies and try the handlings with these copies…
- Anyway, it's not a subject to laugh, it's pretty annoying :(

 Kind regards,
Claude

Pics in PC limbo

Post by Wraygunn »

Thanks for your kind words. Most frustrating is the fact that the thumbnails in th epicture folder are fine; however, when I try to view a pic or otherwise work with it I get the corrupted version I created with XnView. Maybe I can find a way to restore the pictures from the thumbnail. Ah well. a man can dream! :|

No way, they are dead and gone.
Thumbnails look good because they are so small.

I assume that you used 'Batch convert' right? If you did, then did you save your pictures in the same folder as the originals?

Or the thumbnails are from EXIF data...
