Cannot bulk resize to max-width or max-height

Hi,

I thought at first XnResize was finally an app that allows to bulk resize in a simple way without making images larger if they are already small enough.

e.g. you have a folder full of images with mixed sizes. some are small (e.g. 800px). some are large (e.g. 5000px).

I want to bulk resize them to prepare for web upload.
I can set it up to bulk resize them to 2000px width.

The problem: all the smaller images (800px) will be scaled to 2000px in this case

I think it would be good to set a max-width / max-height

What do you think of that?

Sorry, I cannot quite follow. Are you pointing at a feature that is already there that solves that issue?

I presume that Pierre is referring to the Resize action in XnConvert 1.96:

Options are Always, Reduce only and Enlarge only.

I see .. that does not exist on the macOS Version, at least not there, and I can't find this kind of setting anywhere

That is a an option in XnConvert 1.96, I understand Pierre to be asking if you think adding that option to XnResize would provide what you need?

You could if you wish install XnConvert 1,96 and test that option.

Just installed it and now I can see the option ... I am new, so I didn't have the time to make myself familiar with all the apps, I just picked the simplest solution for what I needed. I remember the XnView to be a good software from long time ago.

XnConvert seems to do the trick. Also on macOS. I only did a quick test, it worked, so I'll try later how I can add it to my workflow and how it makes sense. I did purchase another small app already, but will see now which one fits best. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction

I only run a quick test, and now I understand. Yes that feature is indeed very nice and very much necessary e.g. in web design. I always get a punch of images and need to bulk scale them. However, there will be also smaller images, icons, etc. - and without that feature I would enlarge the images.

I need to make myself more familiar with the different apps. But I think the XnResize should have it included, as it definitely is a "resize task"
