1.4.0 - Sidecars / companion files are shown

XnView MP 1.4.0 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 10 64bit

Although the function is disabled, companion files are displayed.

As it looks, the assignment of the companion files does not work properly. The master extension * has no function at all and if I add another like mkv, it is disabled as soon as a second dot appears in the filename.

In the companion file settings I entered following rules:
* = {ext}.xmp;xmp
mkv = {ext}.xmp;xmp

In my example I have 3 files with companion files:
test1.png
test2.mkv
test3.x265.mkv

Only the companion file for test2.mkv is hidden.

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

the rule "mkv = {ext}.xmp;xmp" is not needed

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.4.1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

It works fine for me now. The bug is fixed.
