Question to: how does XnViewMP write metadata

Hello,

From versions of XnViewMP previous to 1.4.0 I know that Adobe XMP-sdk was used to read/write metadata into images.
With version 1.4.0 XnViewMP also uses ExifTool.

Is with version 1.4.0 only ExifTool used to write metadata?
Or does XnViewMP still also use XMP-sdk?

In case of both are used, for which cases are they used.
Is there an option that tells XnViewMP only to use ExifTool?

ExifTool is only used to write XMP as embedded in RAW files
