XnView picking up smallest embedded preview size
I am using XnView to view lossy dng files created by Lightroom. When I view them in XnView, the image dimensions are given as 192 x 256 and the image shows at that size.
When I use exiftool to look inside the DMG file, this is what I see: Exiftool shows that there are a variety of previews embedded in the file, and XnView seems to be picking up the smallest one.
Someone on a Lightroom forum created a DNG file using exactly the same parameters that I did, and for him, even though exiftool shows the same embedded previews with the smallest one listed first, XnView shows a full-size preview as the "image."
I am wondering if XnView has a setting someplace that I need to change in order for it to pick up a larger preview.

Re: XnView picking up smallest embedded preview size
Thanks, but that didn't seem to work. I was able to change the setting you pointed out to me, but viewing at "real size" still shows a very small image, and when I tell her to fill the browser window, the image is very pixelated.
Re: XnView picking up smallest embedded preview size
right, the embedded preview chosen is 768x1024, i'll check to fix it
Pierre.
Re: XnView picking up smallest embedded preview size
Thanks, Pierre. The only thing that I'm a bit confused by is that you noted that the chosen embedded preview is 768x1024, but when I view the image in XnView it says that the image size is 192 x 256.
Looking forward to the update.

Re: XnView picking up smallest embedded preview size
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.4.2. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
Pierre.

Yes, I can verify that version 1.4.2 picks up a larger preview! Thank you.xnview wrote: Thu Jan 26, 2023 12:03 pm This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.4.2. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
Interestingly, the preview appears much brighter than how it is rendered in Lightroom. However, I suspect that this is Lightroom's fault since it is creating the DNG file and therefore is creating the previews.
