I was talking about color labels in this post :

XnviewMP, Lightroom, Bridge are using 5 colors R Y G B P

- Aperture and Apple photos : 7 colors, Orange and Grey are added
- Digikam 9 colors, Black and White are added
Digikam uses numeric values : Red=1, Orange=2, Yellow=3, Green= 4, Blue=5, Magenta(purple?)=6, Grey=7, Black=8, White=9.

- Photomechanic 8 colors : no black, no white but light blue and dark blue

Last one, Imatch, reads all labels found in metadata, but seems to use only 7 colors

I think that default read/write settings could be the same as Digikam...

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.4.3. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

A bug remains :
We cannot edit color labels 6,7,8,9 in Settings > Metadata > Color labels.
Even when clicking OK, they get back with default values.

(Edit ... later : one can use a workaround by editing color labels in xnview.ini file)

Suggestion:
I suggest users to rename labels in first column with 1-9 digits like this

so that all other menu items will be sorted in alphabetic order
Shortcuts :

this way, the numeric keyboard shortcuts are easy to remember.

Toolbar :

instead of being scattered in the list.

It's almost ok.
Now we can save settings, and all labels are correctly displayed in Shortcuts and Toolbars settings.


But for new colors, some entries are missing in View > Rating and Color labels > ... menu
... at the bottom of the list : (orange grey black white) "Move to next image" are missing
