Settings window disappears

Post by Hans L »

Hello:

On my wife's XnView MP (same as mine; 1.4.2), the Settings box has no Minimize or Restore icon. Box is too tall; can't see bottom. Trying to reduce size by dragging down top edge. In doing so, window quickly glides downward and disappears. Main XnView MP window not accessible for clicks on icons, which indicates that Settings window is still open. Have to close using Task Manager.

Win 10, 64 bit.

Kindly advice.

Thanks. Now, not knowing the details, would it be possible to allow user to change size of settings dialog box?

I experience similar behavior: the bottom of the Settings pop-up window not visible.

Windows 11 (fully updated)
XnView MP 1.8.6 (64 bit) - Libformat 7.204
Display Resolution: 3184×2160
Scale: 350%

why use 350% scale?
your output resolution is 909x617 which is extremely low.

I would only bother to update app dialogs to fit min common resolutions:
1280x720 (HD) or 1366x768 (FWXGA)

also steam survey - Primary Display Resolution

I would very much appreciate if the settings dialog can be fixed (like what other similar applications did). I must use 350% because of my eyesight. Microsoft provides this scale factor for a reason. Scale 350% doesn’t change the display resolution of images, it only increases the perceived size of elements on screen like text, icons, taskbars, etc.

Quote:
In Windows 11, you can adjust the perceived size of elements on screen using display scaling (adjusting the percentage) rather than lowering the display resolution, which can lead to a loss of image quality. Lowering resolution makes everything larger but at the cost of sharpness.
