No sound/audio when playing video files in XnView MP

Hi

I am trying to resolve the following issue.

I am running the XnView MP 1.4.5 version on macOS Catalina.

In the Browser mode, I see all the video files thumbnails. When I click on any of them, the video playback works fine but the sound is mssing for all kind of video files. The sound button in the View mode shows 100% but no sound is playing.

(Yes, the other apps in my computer do play the sound correctly.)

Any suggestion, please?

audio volume is good? I've tried on MacOS Catalina, and no problem for audio

I suddenly lost all audio/sound on MP4 files. The video files are not corrupt. I can play the same files with MS Media Player and VLC with full audio. My audio and volume settings are correct; I can play other videos, such as YouTube and TikTok, without any issues. I cannot find any audio settings. I downloaded and installed MP again, no change. Is there a "reset button" or "return to factory settings"? Quoi faire?

Do you mean other formats than mp4? I don't have any other video types at the moment.

Crisis averted!
After three days of no sound, I started digging for videos in other formats, and I found, deep in my cloud folders, two MOV files.The sound was there; beautiful organ music from Saint-Sulpice taken with an old phone many moons ago. After that, I tried playing mp4 files again, and lo and behold, the sound was back! Life is back to normal, all by itself.

I am sorry to go on about this.
Something is not right. The sound is intermittent. I closed MP and started it again, the MP4 sound was not there. Then I played the MOV files first, and it worked, once. There was sound on mp4s as well. Again, I closed MP and restarted it, and now the sound is gone, in both file types. No sound on MOV files either. Any ideas?
