1.5.2 - viewer - crash - during HEIC fast scroll

Post by user0 »

XnViewMP 1.5.2 64bit
Windows11 (22H2), display resolution 3840x2160, win scaling 150%

Viewer - crash
during HEIC fast scroll

To reproduce:
1. run clean portable XnViewMP
2. have 4 HEIC images in folder, open any of them
3. fast scroll back and forth ~10-20 times
(optional) it may require to resize app window (to 50-70% screen space) as it does not crash when small or maximized
app will crash

Could you try 1.5.2 with heic.dll from 1.5.0?

I used unzipped app archive 1.5.2 x64 with:
- heif.dll 1.5.2 (575kb, same dll as in 1.5.1) - crash
- heif.dll 1.5.0 (491kb, same dll as in 1.4.5) - no crash

Did you guys do any kind of triage or get crash logs on this? I might be able to track it down and fix it if I can see what might've happened. The odd thing is that 1.16 hasn't really introduced changes in the threading behavior, so I'm curious why one works and the other didn't.

I don't understand why we have crashs with 1.16.2

I guess I'll try to see if there's any way to reproduce it, then, and check in a libheif fix if it's a new bug.
