They should work simply on current image/file sequence in View.
If it is not possible, they should be simply inactive.

There is no reason for these menus to be that much different.

Curretly they are:

Set comment
Copy comment to IPTC Caption
Copy IPTC Caption to Comment
Copy EXIF USer Comment to Comment
Edit IPTC Data
<exporting metadata>
Clean

Edit IPTC data
Remove IPTC data
<exporting metadata>
Remove EXIF Thumbnail
Remove EXIF Data
Remove all metadata

BTW, all Remove options in View are covered by Clean option in Browser.

Edit Metadata in view and browser don't work in the same way. In view mode you change metadata on loaded picture (no change on file), and in browser you change files

I don't see any problem here. We know general rule that operations in View are applied after confirmation when closing picture or when Saving. Operations in Browser are performed after pushing button in dialog.

BTW, problem, Edit IPTC data cannot be closed with Escape.

Almost but not yet.

In View 'Set Comment' is missing as first item.
In View move 'Remove IPTC data' to the end block, together with other remove options.
IMO the last divider before Remove All Metadata is not needed- all remove options should be in one block.

Moving to Confirmed.

You have it before Metadata

I do not understand why in Browser 'Set comment' is in 'Metadata' submenu and in View it is as a stand-alone item of 'Edit menu' (and its name is 'Edit comment').
I do not see any reason for such distinction.

I think the item should be named 'Edit comment' in both places and be placed in Metadata submenu (because it edits image embedded metadata).

The rest is OK.

Hello Xyzzy, they are different. One is a lossless jpg operation. The other 'edit comment' is not.

I just set comment with the option in Browser and edited the same comment with option in View. Both are lossless.

This is the comment set in JPEG header, not EXIF comment, IPTC caption or description.
