Alphabetical sorting is repeatedly broken/overriden by folder browser sorting

Post by postcd »

Hello,

DETAIL:
when i use
XnView MP 1.5.5 64 bit Linux LibFormat 7.155 (Linux .deb)
folder browser/explorer tab and click to sort files for example by file type or date, then quit XnView and then later open an image using my OS file manager and use XnView left/right arrow keys to browse to other files in same folder, it does not browse alphabetically which is what i want to happen on each new start of the XnView.

SUMMARY/ISSUE:
Apparently XnView remembers my sorting method used in XnView folder browser (clicking column header) and sets it as a "global" default.

IDEA:
It would be handy to allow user to set default sorting method inside Settings and override this method (via folder browser, column header) only for current session while default global setting (in Settings) would be set to Alphabetical. This would seem more logical that default sorting is set in Settings and folder browser override only for current session.

I have just tried and for me the "last change date" (i am using non-english language) and "size" also changes the new new default viewing order across current and future sessions (wrong behavior IMO as described).
But even if you can reproduce behavior on ordering by "Type" only, maybe you can consider changing the OP described XnView MP behavior.

"Size" column in XnView MP folder browser:

Same for me, and that is right, but only for current session. When you read my OP (original post, first one), I am criticizing that it modify default sorting for next sessions.
