Quick Search results ignores IPTC keyword after applying new Keyword Tag

Post by bobzhn »

Quick Search thumbnail results will only list matching filenames (and ignore IPTC keywords) after applying an IPTC Keyword Tag.

XnView: MP 1.6.2 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 7 - 64bit

Steps to reproduce (v1.6.2):
1. Enable Settings > Browser > Quick filter > Search in IPTC fields.

2. Enable Settings > Metadata > Export Catalog's Category > Create IPTC Data.

3. Have a list of images with similar text in either filename or IPTC data (ie. 'cats'), amongst other filenames.

4. Navigate to the folder in (3).

5. Enter QuIck Search text 'cats'. Thumbnails now lists filenames AND IPTC Keywords with 'cats'.

BUG occurs here >
6. Select one of the quick search result image files. Using Category Sets panel, add any other new IPTC keyword tag ie. 'vehicle' to the selected file, keeping the original 'cats' IPTC Keyword.
- Select another image file to allow the IPTC Keyword to write to the file.

7. The thumbnail list refreshes, Quick Search text is still unchanged ('cats'), but now thumbnails ONLY lists filenames with 'cats'.
- IPTC keywords with 'cats' are removed from the displayed thumbnails.

8. Need to perform another quick search using 'cats' to obtain the original results from (5), with filename and IPTC keywords containing 'cats'.

Expected Behaviour :
- Quick Search thumbnail results should display images where filenames AND IPTC Keywords contains 'cats'. Even after applying new IPTC Keywords via Category Sets panel.

Just downloaded the latest XNViewMP ZIP today.

XnView: MP 1.6.3 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 7 - 64bit

Sorry to confirm the same issue still persist in 1.6.3.
- Faulty behavior is exactly the same as initially reported. (Similar in both old and new fresh install DB files)

Update : Issue does NOT exist in version 1.5.5.

XnView: MP 1.6.3 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 7 - 64bit

We have narrowed down the cause of the issue is due to the Settings > Quick filter > Categories option unticked. When ticked the problem does not occur.

In that case please mark the problem as resolved.

We can obtain the desired functionality by checking the Settings > Quick Filter > Categories box.

Thanks.
