Keeping original file when editing

Post by nightowl »

Hi, I'm brand new to XnView MP and quite impressed how customizable everything is, I really like this.

One thing I couldn't find in settings (or have overlooked): Is there an option to keep a copy of the original file when I edit it? I'd like to have a copy of the file like image-original.jpg because I need to keep the original filename for the processed image. Thanks for any hint!

Maybe a workaround, if it would be useful, could be to:

1. Copy the source files to another folder;

2. Use a batch renaming software to rename those files with the 'original' suffix;

3. Process the original files as you wish;

4. Then, if appropriate, combine the folders.

Edit: The XnView MP browser now contains a file renaming option that would probably be suitable.

Thanks for the idea! We have an automatic import process I think it should be possible to add something like "create copy of imported image", will have a talk with our developers.
