# enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
Hello,
I'm using the last version of xnviewMP (1.7.1 64 bits Apr 8 2024).
I use "Import and Sort" function.
It seems that the function "# enumerator per folder" doesn't works. When I choose this option the numbering continues at each new folder.
I would like that the first file of each folder start by 1.
I tried the $ but it doesn't works.
Do you have an idea to solve my problem?
My parameters: Regards.

Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"

Pierre.
Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
Hello,
I put in attachment a zip file of a folder with several pictures taken on different days.
I compress the pictures to save space but the Exifs are still OK.
I make a test : the numbering is still not like I think it's supposed to be.
Can you have a look?
Tank a lot.

Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
so you have no subfolder? "# enumerator per folder" is for source folder
Pierre.
Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
Sub folders are created. Files are copied an renamed in the good folder.
The problem is the numbering. It Starts at 01 only in the first folder. In each other folder the numbering continues where it stoppes in the previous folder.
I would like to have this:
I don't understand what you try to explain to me saying this:
Regards.
The problem is the numbering. It Starts at 01 only in the first folder. In each other folder the numbering continues where it stoppes in the previous folder.
Code: Select all
Folder 1 : xxxx_01 => xxxx_05
Folder 2 : yyyy_06 => yyyy_14
Folder 3 : zzzz_15 => zzzz_19
Code: Select all
Folder 1 : xxxx_01 => xxxx_05
Folder 2 : yyyy_01 => yyyy_09

"# enumerator per folder" is for source folder

Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
Is there a solution to do what I would like?

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.0. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
Hello,
I did some tests with version 1.8.0.
Now, during the “Import & Sort” action, the files are renamed starting with 1 in each folder. This is what I wanted
.
I have to choose the “# enumarate per Out Put Folder” option to do this.
So there's still a problem. The file renamed xxxxx1.jpg is not the most recent image in the folder. The files seem to be randomly numbered.
Could you please take a look at the attached file?
Thank you for your understanding.

Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
Could the sort order set in View > Sort by, particularly some of the options low-down in the long list, be relevant?

I don't really understand what you want to tell exactly. Can you try to explain your previous post?
To be clearer I put an attached file. Please have a look to this one. For me it's possible to have files sorted by date with the final number in the good order.
Regards.
Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
You wish to have sort by date, and then to sort by enumerator within that?
I'm not sure whether that is possible, personally I only use a basic sort order normally by date or filename.

Re: # enumerator per folder during Import & Sort"
files from original folder are not sorted, so this is perhaps the problem.
