Hi, this is a question about an issue that pursues me since a long time, several years. Usually I'm using Lightroom Classic for picture organisation and processing. The issue does not depend on any Lightroom Classic / Camera RAW or Windows version, I've seen it throughout different PC generations since years. Especially some of my older CR2 files taken with EOS 7D show as corrupt in any picture viewer, maybe not in grid view but latest in single / detail view. Only XNVIEW MP seems to ignore the corrupted RAW block(s) and shows the pictures without any defect. So I created a TIF from each corrupt CR2 to rescue anything which worked fine, unfortunately only 8 bit TIF.
So here's my question. Is XNVIEW reading the corrupted RAW file and restoring the information for export or does it just create a new export file from the embedded jpg which is not corrupted?
Best regards
Robert
