Copying images from Xnview MP to email clients

- Open an image with Xnview MP
- Copy it to the clipboard by pressing [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[c]

1. Open Thunderbird
- Open a new email
- Insert the image from the clipboard to the email message by pressing [Ctrl]+[v]
→ This adds a thin grey line above the image.
→ Inserting the image without Xnview MP being involved, the image has no grey line above
→ See screenshot

2. Open Outlook
- Open a new email
- Insert the image from the clipboard to the email message by pressing [Ctrl]+[v]
→ The image has horizontal stripes and does look really bad
→ See screenshot

How can I prevent this? Is this a bug with Xnview MP? Or is this issue related to my computer's clipboard?

it seems that your image is 32bits, and client doesnt support it

It is indeed true that the image is 32bits. But Thunderbird obviously supports 32bit images. Example:
The very same image was inserted twice (see screenshot):
On the left is the image, that was inserted using Drag & Drop.
On the right is the same image, that was copied from Xnview using [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[c] and inserted using [Ctrl]+[v].
The image that was copied from Xnview has a gray line above.

I am not able to fully agree. I tried the same image with Microsoft Word 365.
On the left is the image, that was inserted using Drag & Drop.
On the right is the same image, that was copied from Xnview using [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[c] and inserted using [Ctrl]+[v].
The image that was copied from Xnview has many stripes and looks regrettable. It's much worse than in Thunderbird.

I tried Microsoft Word 365, Microsoft Outlook 365, Photoshop Elements and Thunderbird. None of these apps is suitable for pasting images from Xnview. Which apps do you recommend?

I do not know what an «alpha channel» is. And I wonder what should be done to improve the result. Should Microsoft, Adobe and Thunderbird work on their products? Or should users stop copying images from Xnview to other apps using the clipboard? Is the issue eventually being caused by the clipboard? If I first save the image to the harddisk and then insert it Drag & Drop, this works fine, but doing so is in some cases a little bit clumsy.

Your image has transparency in alpha channel (32bits), and these apps don't support, only 24bits image. So you need to convert your image (change color depth) in XnView before to copy it

Ok, I have no doubt that this is true. But what I do not understand:

The image looks perfect when it is dragged & dropped into Word, Outlook, Photoshop Elements and Thunderbird, despite the fact that «it has transparency in alpha channel (32bits)».
Only when it's copied from Xnview using the clipboard, it becomes kind of awful.
Xnview seems to apply some changes to the image at the moment it is copied to the clipboard.
If Xnview would do nothing else than forward the image untouched (unprocessed) to Word 365, Microsoft Outlook 365, Photoshop Elements and Thunderbird via the clipboard, these changes to the image would not happen, would they?

When you use drag&drop, the file path is copied not image data.
you can test by using 'Edit>Copy to Clipboard>Filename and path'
