1.8.0 Loss of gamma correction when zooming beyond 100%

Post by Vick »

XnView: MP 1.8.0 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 10/64bit

The current image opened in the viewer loses the “Use gamma correction” (enabled in preferences) when zoomed beyond 100%, and the “High zoom quality” option is enabled.

Does not occur if “High Zoom Quality” is disabled, and if zoom is 100% or less.

Effect: The image loses gamma correction.

To reproduce:
1. Enable “Use gamma correction” in preferences and set a value other than 1.00 (to see the effect)
2. Activate “High quality zoom”.
3. Open any image in the viewer, zoom to over 100%.

Current behavior (bug): :bug: Image loses gamma correction at zooms above 100% as if gamma correction is off or set to 1.00.

Expected behavior: keep gamma correction at any zoom level.

in the settings: (I'm setting the gamma to a very high value to see the effect in this example)

In menu View:

At Zoom 100% or less, the gamma correction is working:
Zoom 100.jpg
More than 100% of zoom, the gamma correction is gone, no matter if windowed or full screen:

Yes I did not see it before, but only "none" and "bilinear" works good on both zoom in and zoom out.

If I set any zoom to:

Bicubic
spline 16
spline 36
lanczos 3
lanczoz 4

the gamma correction is lost on both zoom in and zoom out when different from 100%
