1.8.2 Category filter doesn't display selection

Post by robubble »

This bug is related to the dropdown of the category filter panel (global, current folder, current folder with subfolders).
No matter what is selected, the number behind the categories doesn't change and reflect the selection. They keep their global value.

This way you can't preview what categories are present in the current selected folder.

Sneaking in a somewhat related question:
Is there a way to expand/collapse all categories? When dealing with big hierarchical category lists not having this is a huge pain.

this setting is only when you select a filter in the category filter panel

Thanks for answering but this isn't the problem.

Let me illustrate, what I actually mean (sorry for the German UI but everything should be in the same place)

This is my folder tree (the numbers behind it show the numbers of files in each folder)

tZH5PjqMhH.png (2.94 KiB) Viewed 1935 times
Every of the 9 files is categorized with a "Test Category"

I am in the folder "Sub" and filter for "Test Category" globally. I get 9 files and the category filter panel shows (9). As expected.

I am in the folder "Sub" and filter for "Test Category" in the current folder ("Sub"). I get 1 file and the category filter panel shows (9). Expected result is (1)

I am in the folder "Sub" and filter for "Test Category" in the current folder with subfolders ("Sub"). I get 7 files (1+2+1+3) and the category filter panel shows (9). Expected result is (7)

Current behaviour: The number in the category filter panel does not update dynamically and always shows the global number.
Expected behaviour: The number in the category filter panel updates shows the number of files with this category according to the settings (global, current folder, current folder with subfolders).

Count is the total count in catalog, not following the setting when selecting filter

So this would be a feature request?

+1
current filter behavior is inconvenient at a minimum, and misleading at a maximum

I think it would be better if counters will follow filter selection [Global, current folder, current folder recursive]

another approach:
Browser - Catalog filter - add dynamic filters

I couldn't summerize it better.

Your approach is also interesting and looks more clean in my opinion (especial with big hirarchies of keywords). Could be helpful if you apply filter on the folder level.
