Metadata cannot delete complete and save without blank-letter

Effect: Picture does not save Picture after deleting IPTC Data

To reproduce:
1. comment a picture with IPTC text (see picture)
2. save
3. reopen the picuture and delete the comment (from 1. step) complete
4. save
5. reopen the picture => the comment (Metadata) is always existent and NOT removed !!!

workaround (i don't like it):
to remove a Metadata-Field it is nessesary to place a blank letter.

Are you sure you're making the right distinction between iptc and xmp?

Using "Edit IPTC" dialog > Options tab > Mode > IPTC only or IPTC and update XMP must be selected
or
Using "EDIT XMP" dialog > Options tab > Mode (Here, xmp is automatically selected )

With these settings, If I select 1 (one) jpg picture >
> Edit iptc > delete a field > Write > the IPTC field is deleted , no bug found

If you select more than ONE picture before opening "Edit IPTC" dialog, the problem is much more complicated...

If you want to delete the same field in multiple files, select the files and use
Metadata > Transfer > Add > Iptc caption (example of target field) >( let the content empty) > Apply
