Metadata entered in Category management is not displayed and not adopted

Dear all,
If I enter entries, e.g. keywords, in the “Category management” at the bottom of the screen, these are not transferred to the image file. Although the entries are declared as assigned in the category management, they are neither displayed under the preview images nor in the Windows file manager.
If I select images and go to Metadata -> Edit IPTC... and then make the entries, these are accepted and displayed both under the preview images of XnViewMP and in the Windows file manager.
Both procedures are described in the screenshots.
How can I write metadata (keywords, headings) to the files using the category management. This worked on my old PC... on my new PC with freshly installed XNViewMP this does not work

Hi Erik, you must first enable some "Export" options in Settings>Metadata before assigning categories to the photos... so that they will be saved as IPTC keywords and/or XMP subjects in photos.

For some raw formats, metadata can't be embedded, and they must be exported in xmp sidecar files (Settings> Metadata>Sidecar tab)
