ExifTool info panel problems
The ExifTool panel is useful to me, there are 2 problems:
1. I guess this is related to Windows Defender. The first time I switch to ExifTool panel, XnView MP takes more than 10 seconds before the exif data is displayed. I restart Windows and in the Windows terminal, I use the embedded exiftool.exe with a big jpg file, it takes 10 seconds to get result. The next time I run exiftool with another jpg file, the execution speed is normal.
If I don't use ExifTool panel and use the EXIF panel, it still takes XNView MP 0.x seconds when I switch one file to another. It seems that XnView MP has done more works than just extracting the header.
2. The column widths of all the info panels cannot be adjusted, and the category indentation is quite big. In "Properties" and "EXIT" panels, the fields are not long, but in ExifTool, there are usually very long fields, I have to scroll horizonally to see the value of the fields for each file I browse. It is quite embarrassing.

Windows 10? the first time XnView starts ExifTool thread and can take more time but not 10 seconds...jdp1024 wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:19 am 1. I guess this is related to Windows Defender. Re: ExifTool info panel problems
This is the width I set to the panel. You can see the horizontal scroll bar is just a small part of the whole image.
This is almost the full width. Because of the long field text (see the XMP section), even set to this wide, the scroll bar is still visible.
The problem is the column width is not adjustable, the width is set to the width of the longest field/value.

Re: ExifTool info panel problems
Windows 11 23H2. I guess this is because of the cloud submission or something like that. The first time run is ridiculously slow, after it, the speed is fine.xnview wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2025 10:02 am Windows 10? the first time XnView starts ExifTool thread and can take more time but not 10 seconds...
But even after the first time, I can see a CPU usage peak of XnView MP in Task Manager for 0.x seconds. EXIF decoding is a simple task, it looks like the image data is decoded, not just the header.
Re: ExifTool info panel problems
you means that column 0 width should be lesser?
but Windows defender scan only 1 time Exiftool not always i thinkWindows 11 23H2. I guess this is because of the cloud submission or something like that. The first time run is ridiculously slow, after it, the speed is fine.

Re: ExifTool info panel problems
I mean the column width should be adjustable and saved to the ini. In my screenshot, the first column is too wide, but it's hard to set a universal column width for all scenarios.xnview wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:30 pm you means that column 0 width should be lesser?

I have no idea why the first time run of exiftool.exe is unreasonably slow.
Re: ExifTool info panel problems
if column width becomes adjustable, we need to add a header on top of panel to adjust

Re: ExifTool info panel problems
Please consider adding this feature to make the Info panel more usable.xnview wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2025 3:02 pm if column width becomes adjustable, we need to add a header on top of panel to adjust
Re: ExifTool info panel problems
Doing so will cause any long field text truncated and cannot be fully displayed.
Re: ExifTool info panel problems
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.7. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Re: ExifTool info panel problems
Thanks for the fix. Could you please also add the header to the EXIF (not ExifTool) and other tabs containing a key-value list?xnview wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 9:05 am This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.7. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
The indentation takes too much space as you can see in the screenshot, can it be narrower?
