How to reuse "Effects" in same setting?

When I use some "Effect - Effects", I want to reuse the last settings again - Blur, Average, ...
But every time when I start the command again, I have to search for the command and the settings.

Is there no "feature to remember last used settings" or do I miss(ed) something?

Could be useful, but would require a change to the interface rather than simply adding persistence?
