Ignore rating of new files in XMP Matadata

Post by jacomo »

Hello, I wanted to address a rating issue again after a long time, now that I am working more often with this wonderful software again.

In the current version 1.8.6 my problem still seems to exist:
The rating (and color label) of new files is automatically imported and cannot be disabled (viewtopic.php?p=146142).

You asked back then why I don't want to import rating/label of files. Well, I would at least like to have the option of deactivating this. For example, if you get pictures from other people, or from the internet, these pictures are sometimes provided with their rating or their color label. But you would assign a completely different rating yourself - or none at all. So you have to delete all the ratings and color labels first. That's not nice.

One possibility would be to integrate an option: “Ignore rating and color label of (new) files” under Settings > Metadata. Then the rating (and color label) would not be displayed in the browser and would not be sorted under the respective rating.

As an additional function, it would also be conceivable to import the ratings selectively in a folder (recursively?) if you want to do so for certain files. (but only if you have development time to spare :-)

ciao

Now I'm a bit confused. The option ('Settings>Metadata>Import rating') does not exist for me.
There are only two options for exporting (rating and color label).
An option to import them would be really great.
