External SSD? Import or not?

Post by mac-club »

Hallo, I am new and need help, please.

I used Expression Media 2 for years and need only very few functions but cannot find them:

I have folders in folders with for example 60.000 JPGs, TIFs and PNGs. They all have IPTC "Categories" and/or "Persons". All metadata are stored IN the file, of course.

1) The window of XnView MP shows only user folders. My files are not in my user folder but on internal/external partitions/HDs/SSDs. How can I access these locations?

So I do not need to "import" files (as copies), because they already exist on partitions/SSDs.

2) It worked fine to access a test folder on my desktop with some 100 files, on the left all IPTC keywords. Can I create a databank file containing thumbnails as aliases - as with Expression Media? How?

3) How can I customize the left side of the main window, see screenshot. I only need IPTC "Categories" and "Persons", colors. And maybe ratings.

Thank you very much!

Mike

You can enter the path in text field

Could you describe what you would like?

Currently you can't
