Handling of archives

Post by zilog256 »

Hello.

Been using your tool for quite some time, it's really a life/time saver and works flawlessly for all my usage ; batch conversion for instance is a bliss.

I have one small complaint unless I'm doing something wrong : the files in archives, I use that a lot (much more convenient when stored on HDD to avoid zillions of small files etc)

=> when opening an archive and then clicking on a file/image, the image loads fine, BUT if you want to browse further, you're limited to the amount of files that have already been decoded for display in the gallery ; i.e you have an archive containing 100 images, you open the archive in XnviewMP, it begins decoding files for display in the gallery, let's say up to image #10, you click on image #2, and go viewing following images = you're stuck to image #10. If you need to go beyong that image, you have to go back to the gallery and basically waiting for the whole gallery being displayed.

=> couldn't the process be done while viewing/in the background in that case?

=> also, is the whole archive loaded into RAM? that could be a convenient option to speed up things ( copy the whole ZIP/RAR in RAM and then work on it) ; maybe i'ts already the case, dunno.

En tout cas merci pour cet excellent outil, quasiment rien à redire, c'est un plaisir à utiliser :)
