When opening images from the browser, you can end up opening numerous images and you have to get them closed. The following would be variously useful (apologies if there are ways that these can already be done) -
* Ctrl-Double-Click the picture that doesn't simply switch to the browser (as double-click does) but first closes the active image you double-clicked. This is not quite the same as hitting Esc (set to close the image) because Esc closes and takes you back to the prior tab (which may or may not be the browser) whereas this will close and get you back to the browser.
* Shift-Click the X on an image OR shift-Esc to close all the images (leaving just the browser open)
* Enter on a small selection in the browser should open all the selected images, currently it just opens one of them
It may be some variation on these suggestions would work as well, the main thing is an easy way to do these tasks.
Cheers, David

I could only support adding new command - 'Close tabs to the right' (like in web browsers)
it opens multiple files as filelistmeteorquake wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 7:32 am * Enter on a small selection in the browser should open all the selected images, currently it just opens one of them
Re: Easier Opening/Closing of Tabs
Personally, I reduce the maximum count of tabs to 1 in the XnView settings. I'm fine with that as I don't use multiple tabs in XnView anyway.
But the default value (max. 20 tabs?) also annoyed me. Having so many tabs just because of viewing and closing images from the browser was awful. I understand the wish to really close the viewer by doubleclick.
And when in a hurry it was even hard to find the setting to change that behavior. Having 2 setting groups named "general" ("Allgemein") is no help at all.

Re: Easier Opening/Closing of Tabs
Thanks, it seems you encountered the same problem with the browser.
Your solution is a help, so I've set it to 2. However it's not quite ideal, which I think (myself) is probably something on the lines of what I outlined, which doesn't impact anything existing, unless a better methodology is suggested.
I'm going to post some other suggestions about tabs for consideration.
