default view 100%?

Post by camelgrass »

Is there a setting I can change to make all images open at 100% size by default?

Also, is there a button I can add to the toolbar that will toggle between best fit and 100%, or what is the best way to deal with this?

Thank you for any help,

Cheers, Marty

Yes… NO !

:) Hello !

- If you use the option “View” >>Auto image size >> "No fit", the pictures are opened as 1:1 scale.
- Moreover, you can get the 1:1 scale simply pressing the NUM “*” key at every moment,
while the “ / ” NUM key (re)sets "Fit to window"…
Also, is there a button I can add to the toolbar…
 It's the question that angers … You cannot add any button in the tool-bar else than the ones for wich the unique 33-icon bitmap has commands, and the one(s) you wish are not in the bunch… :(

 Kind regards,

Hi, and thanks for your reply :).

It's useful to know those keyboard shortcuts, thanks.

This setting I know about “View” >>Auto image size >> "No fit". But when closing and reopening XnView it does not save this setting.

Cheers,

Fresh INI…

Post by Clo »

:) Hi again !
This setting I know about “View” >>Auto image size >> "No fit". But when closing and reopening XnView it does not save this setting.
- It should do ! I checked this just now, that works here, that setting is saved alright, as well with the current version 1.80.3, as with the 1.82 RC2 on tests currently. Under XP-Pro SP1
- You could try to rename your XnView INI file, then the programme'll rebuild a fresh one, and let's know what occured
- Inconvenience : if that works properly such as, you'll be bound to remake your settings… :|

AMD Ryzen 3 3300X 3.8Ghz, 16Gb DDR4, RX6600XT with Dell U2520D at 2560x1440@60Hz scaling 125%
Win11 x64 24H2, Hard Disk Sentinel Pro, MS PowerToys, Process Lasso Pro and Wintoys

Hmm... strange.

It still doesn't want to stay on that setting. It always wants to go back to "Fit image to window, large only", regardless of what size or type the image is.

I tried renaming the xnview.ini but it didn't make any difference.

Also, I unchecked the box in options that says "No thumbnail for PDF/PS/AI files". Should I be seeing a thumbnail image of PDF files now? I don't.

Thanks for your help, Marty.

The right INI?

Post by Clo »

 camelgrass

:) Hello !!

- “Are you sure:D that you are using the right INI? Or even an INI merely ?

- Please, check "Options" >> Installation to see which option-saving is set.
- Maybe have you an old INI in the <windows> dir, and it's used…?
- Or else, the settings are saved in the Win Register, or so… ?
- To get the use of the INI located in the XnView folder, the couple of lower tick-boxes must be both not ticked !

hi Claude,

Yes, XnView is definitely using the right INI because it was replaced when I renamed it. Both options are unchecked as you indicated they should be.

I'm a new user to XnView, I just installed version 1.80.3 recently. I may try reinstalling it later on.

By the way, I found the "Zoom 100%" button that I was looking to add to the Toolbar!!

Also, should PDF files show a thumbnail image using the settings from my previous post?

Cheers, Marty

Are you talking about the main Options window > View > Auto image size (as Clo) which should keep settings or about the Menu>View>Auto image size (which is a temporary setting) ?

About PDF, check this: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=1228
