That title's going to be confusing.
This concerns using the Search function with the condition "EXIF:ISO value."
First, am I correct that the ISO value is limited to 6400? And am I right that the limit has something to do with how iso numbers are coded in exif data (e.g. ExifToolGUI can only go up to 6400 as well)?
If not, my suggestion is to let the ISO number go as high as the user would want, as there are iso values in the 5, 6 and even 7 digits these days.
But I do suspect that that is not possible, so my real suggestion is to change the current behavior when the user tries to put in something larger than 6400.
In the current behavior, if the user tries to type a number greater than 6400, the box just stops the writing at whatever number is less than that. So, e.g., 7000 end up at 700; 10,000 ends up at 1000; 12,800 ends up at 1280, and interestingly 6401 ends up at 640.
I suggest that any >6400 number entered in the box be shifted down to 6400. So, e.g., 7000 ends up at 6400, 10,000 ends up at 6400; 12,800 ends up at 6400, and 6401 ends up at 6400.
... Or possibly simpler still is to just indicate that the ISO value is limited to 6400 in the condition's label, now that I think about it...
As always thanks for hearing me out and for everything you do with XnView MP!
