Date of files

Please help me bring back the date of file from exif data. I have photo files with date of copy them to new place. I would like them to have the exif date of taking pictures. I right click the file > meta> change date of file > and than what ? I try different sets and I cant get the exif date. Thank you

In the top part of the dialog, select the 3rd option under "Use" and change the drop-down menu immediately to its right to "EXIF:Date taken".

Then, in the bottom part of the dialog, check the two File options.

This will only work if your file actually has EXIF:Date Taken information in it. If it doesn't, you could try using EXIF:Date Digitized.
