browser: spacing between rows
Is there a way to reduce the empty space between the rows in the browser? an awful lot of space is lost, about 30%
I think I went through all the settings but maybe I missed something

Re: browser: spacing between rows
there is no thumbnail cell vertical auto sizing like in win file explorer
the space is only 'empty' because your images are horizontal, vertical/square images will use it in full
however, you also can change thumbnail size to fit your horizontal images:
1. change Custom thumbnail size in Settings>Thumbnail>Appearance
2. select Custom in Browser>View>Thumbnails size

Re: browser: spacing between rows
So, the empty space isn't between the rows, it's inside the reserved space for the thumbnails because the thumbnails are shrunk to fully fit space instead of being cropped.
How can I change the thumbnail ratio then?
I change the custom thumbnail size in the settings and nothing happens.
current ratio is way too square, the most common image ratio is 16:9 not 5:4
