I use Batch Convert to create my standard for filenames: YYYY-MM-DD-hh-mm-ss. I use the Exif Date Taken as the source for that name. More often now I get a set of 'burst photos' - from cell phones mostly. So Batch Convert gives me a message saying that <filename-x> already exists and asks if I want to overwrite. I don't know/think that EXIF Date Taken has any finer granularity than second. If it did, I'd be happy to extract/use tenths/hundredths of a second. But that would depend upon all cameras supporting that.
Any possibility that we could be be given the opportunity to have the file written as <filename-x(n)> where n=1,2,3,...? Or append '-a, -b, -c, ...? Or in some common/supported format for multiple files having the same name? And (since I'm asking), what about a check-box for "Do this for any other duplicate files"?
Thanks for listening.
PS
This might apply in general to (most?) all instances in which XNView finds an existing filename that it wants to write.

Re: Overwrite Existing? e.g. in Batch Convert
You can do this already.
In the Options area for Batch Convert (it's on the Output tab) there is a setting "If an output file already exists." You have it set to "Ask".
Just change that setting to "Rename", and when you have a collision because of the time, it will append _1, _2, etc as necessary.
Give that a try and let me know if it meets your needs.

Arghhhh - I just 'found' (noticed, actually) that the rename feature existed.
Came back here to edit/fix my post and saw the reply.
And, yes, it did/does just what I wanted.
I should have looked closer; sorry.
Thanks!
