Date format

Post by mavidica »

A small and simple thing - can we please have an option to set a non-US date format (dd/mm/yyyy)?

For 'the rest of us'!

Welcome to the forums...

Where exactly are you wanting to display the date in a particular way? And what OS are you running the app on?

First I'll mention that the developer is based in France, so he is "the rest of us". XnViewMP caters to localization settings very well.

Second, generally for date display, it should follow your system settings. If you have your OS set to display US-format dates, that's what you'll get. Set your system to non-US style dates, and the app should pick up on it.

Third, depending on where you want to display it, like in Labels, you can use what Pierre calls "placeholders" but are really formatting characters. Read about it here: viewtopic.php?t=48554 Linguistically this rare "documentation" post might leave a little to be desired, but it's written in English and the developer is, as I said, French.

So you could for example display the date of a file like this:
{Creation Date [d/m/Y]} which would display as 31/10/2025

So probably XnViewMP is already capable of doing what you want. If you still don't think so, you'll need to be more specific... :) Show a screenshot if necessary.

Hopefully this helps...
