Feature Request: Dual-Pane (L/R) "Commander" Mode with Full Shortcut Customization

Post by Tomarioko »

Hi Pierre,

XnView MP is a fantastic tool, but for heavy file organization, I still find myself switching to NexusFile (xiles) or Total Commander. I would love to see an integrated Dual-Pane (Left/Right) File Manager mode added to XnView MP to make it a true all-in-one productivity hub.

To match the efficiency of professional file managers, I am suggesting:

Dual-Pane Layout: A side-by-side view allowing users to navigate two different folders simultaneously. This is essential for moving, copying, and comparing assets efficiently.

Fully Customizable Keyboard Shortcuts: The ability to remap every file operation (Copy, Move, Delete, Compare). Ideally, this would allow users to replicate the NexusFile experience (e.g., using Tab to switch panes and F5/F6 for operations).

Advanced Filtering & Selection: Features to quickly filter the view in one pane, select specific files, and instantly move or copy them to the destination open in the other pane.

Folder Comparison Tools: A built-in utility to compare the two open locations to identify missing files or different versions at a glance.

By adding a "Commander" style workflow, XnView MP would provide a seamless bridge between a high-end viewer and a professional file manager.

Is a dual-pane view with deep shortcut customization on the roadmap? It would be a massive upgrade for power users.

Thanks for the great work!
