Update check failed.
Starting from v1.9.10, the update check has consistently failed to notify me of any available new versions.

Re: Update check failed.
Every time I check for updates on the older version, it says it's already the latest version.

Re: Update check failed.
The latest version available for download from the official website is v1.10.3
The latest version announced in the discussion forum is v1.10.4
The older version, v1.9.10, is the latest after checking.
This is really confusing?!

Re: Update check failed.
No, if from 1.9.10 i check update, it tells me 1.10.3, so it's normal. Not you?

Re: Update check failed.
I have already replaced v1.9.10 with v1.10.4, so I cannot verify your statement. However, I previously commented that v1.9.10 could not check for the latest version.

Re: Update check failed.
Pierre, I just checked, and I can tell you some things.
1. It is not possible to download old versions from the forums. All the links for all versions point to the same URL:
https://download.xnview.com/XnViewMP-win-x64.zip
And that URL is a copy of 1.10.4 !!!
That means if a user tries to download 1.9.10, or 1.9.5, or 1.10.3 or any other version from the forum, the actually get 1.10.4
I think old versions should be kept and remain available.
2. I used an old copy of 1.9.10 I had, and it reported as follows:
3. Clicking the download new version button takes you to this URL:
https://www.xnview.com/en/xnview-mp/?update=1#downloads
4. That URL says you're going to get 1.10.3. The download button on that page points to https://www.xnview.com/download.php?fil ... p&update=1
5. And that download is actually 1.10.4 !!!
So an actual copy of 1.9.10 detected it was not the most recent version, and offered to let you download 1.10.3. That's good.
But you don't actually get to download 1.10.3, you get 1.10.4 instead. That's bad.
And you can't download any version from the forums except 1.10.4 either. All the URLs point to the same place, which is the 1.10.4 file. I think that is very bad. Users are cut off from old versions.
All my testing was done with the portable/zip version for Windows. I don't bother with the installer.

Re: Update check failed.
You should find older versions here: Old versions ...
The links on the Announcement pages may very well always point to the newly released version, which as you suggest is potentially misleading.
Edit: That's a different issue to the issue regarding the versions available frm the site home page.

Re: Update check failed.
Be that as it may, this page https://www.xnview.com/en/xnview-mp/
says you're downloading 1.10.3, and you're not.
If your intent is to keep 1.10.3 the main version that's officially available, until you think 1.10.4 is ready, you're not doing that.
The 1.10.3 download is gone from the main page, silently replaced with 1.10.4.

Except you're not. That's what I'm saying. 1.10.4 is the only version that can be download by users from the main website.I'm waiting a little before to update the version on website

Re: Update check failed.
I think you mean you wait to change the words on the website. The downloadable version is already changed.
The problem is, that only works if the person is already on 1.10.3
It's like this:
1.10.3 version check: you have the current version. So no download. Fine, they stay 1.10.3
1.10.2 version check: there is 1.10.3 available! Download it? You get 1.10.4
So everyone on versions older than 1.10.3 goes straight to 1.10.4, when it sounds like you were trying to avoid lots of people upgrading to 1.10.4
